BANGALORE: Kerala-based IVL India, a software export unit and a centre for mission-critical applications in the SAP R/3 development platform and imc GmbH, a German company specializing in Web-based projects and consultancy, have announced a tie-up for developing Internet applications.

Announcing the tie-up, IVL managing director Sunil Gupta and imc managing director Dr. Wolfgang Kraemer said the Indian partner will provide development support in various e-commerce, e-learning, multimedia and Internet-based applications. The tie-up, according to Mr. Gupta, is part of IVL’s strategy for getting into the e-commerce and Internet-based applications development. Some of its other projects will be in Web-enabling the SAP R/3 applications.

Three of IVL India's Internet developers are currently working in the headquarters of imc and are being trained in development work related to e-learning projects. These applications will primarily be for the German market and will be later extended to cover the global market.

imc is an off-shoot company of the Institute for Information Technology at the University of Saarland, Germany. Its global clients include IBM Global Services for whom the company conceived the Method Blue Online Academy enabling IBM consultants worldwide to access the latest methods and tool training. It also devised Lufthansa's LearnWay programme which involved broadening the previous application of CBTs in the form of CD-ROMs through Web-based training.
