According to Karan Puri, Managing Director, " We are currently in the

process of creating a team for our 'portal factory' to set up 25 portals in 2000

aimed at different vertical business areas. We intend to then sell off the

territorial rights of these portals or give them for subscription to others, who

can do e-business on them." At smartsourceit.com and netmanageit.com,

companies can log in and decide on the mix of equipments/products, solutions and

services they want to avail and then order them on-line. "Once we have the

portals up, we have a live model for our customers to see what kind of

development we can do. We will develop, host and maintain the portal for the

customer. He will not have to bother about all operational and maintenance

issues." Added Kohli.

IT&T is automating its key functions such as order logging, procurement,

logistics and support workflow using the latest intranet model and architecture

to become an integrated Web enabled organization. The above is also expected to

help and promote its initiative of e-enabling applications. Said Kohli,

"Few of our existing customers have expressed interest in e-enabling

workflow applications and our in-house model would immensely help the sales

effort towards closure."

The Rs 27 crore IT&T will also be providing IT infrastructure consultancy

and maintain individual clients' queries and provide solutions online, thereby

eliminating procedural delays on execution and implementation of customer needs.

The company, which has 12 branch offices and associates in over 30 locations all

over India, provides support to large entities like DSP Merrill Lynch, Coca

Cola, Castrol, Reckitt & Coleman, GE Capital, British Council Division,

UNICEF and Ranbaxy among others, offering end-to-end facilities management. The

company, which recently launched IT&T Global Services Division,is looking at

setting up offices in the US and UK.
