LONDON: Hewlett-Packard Co., the number one personal computer and printer maker, said that the market for technology services remained tough but it was not deteriorating. "We haven't seen demand change much over the last six to nine months," Ann Livermore, HP's executive vice president and the head of Services, told Reuters in London. "We haven't seen it get worse."

A merger with Compaq in May made HP the third-largest global technology services provider behind IBM Corp and Electronic Data Systems. Livermore, who is visiting London to meet with customers, said rival EDS's comments earlier this month on shrinking demand was "interesting", but that was not the case for HP.

EDS warned investors on September 19 that customer spending on services had virtually dried up in the past two months after slashing its third quarter earnings estimate.
