BANGALORE: IT Secure, the computer security solutions company, has launched PC2000, a

product aimed to relieve professionals and small business of the Y2K worry. PC2000 is

designed to check a PC for Y2K compliance and also assist the user in resolving the

problem. Available at Rs 2,250, PC2000 first tests the hardware of the PC for Y2K

compliance and generates a report. If the PC is found to be non-compliant, the user is

given an option to fix it using a software patch, which is provided along with PC2000.

The tool then checks all software installed on the PC. After checking the software, the

tool generates a report showing the Y2K status of each software based on its master

database. The master database consists of vendor compliance statements for over 6,000

different programs and is constantly updated. In addition to the compliance status, a

separate report is also generated showing the Internet addresses from where the respective

Y2K patch for each software can be downloaded to make the software Y2K compliant.

The software then also makes an inventory of all the database and spreadsheet files n

the PC. All the user then has to do is to change the 2 digit years in these files.

Finally, PC2000 produces a comprehensive report of its findings and also presents a plan

to make your system Y2K compliant. PC2000 is available in two versions for stand alone PCs

and multi-user versions (for the companies with networked PCs). The networked version

produces reports for all the PCs from a single point.
