IT Kerala 2002: an expression of commitment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala’s biggest IT event, IT Kerala 2002, started yesterday amid much festivity and celebration in Technopark, Kerala. S M Krishna, Chief Minister, Karnataka had inaugurated the event. A K Antony, Chief Minister, Kerala, P K Kunhalikutty, IT Minister and leading IT dignitaries were among the guests of honor for the 4 day IT event. Inaugurating the event, S.M.Krishna said, "Wealth creation is imperative for equitable distribution of the same. This creation and distribution process will go towards alleviating the plight of the down trodden. The IT/ITES industry has set this process of wealth creation in motion."

Krishna complimented Kerala State for initiating a number of steps to attract investments in this regard. "I have no doubt that Kerala will make great progress in the knowledge-based sector. With its exuberant and educated youth power having found a channel to achieve their career aspiration, Kerala should soon emerge as a strong social-economic entity," Krishna added.



Antony in his presidential address said that IT Kerala 2002 held as a sequel to IT Kerala 2000 is being organized against the backdrop of Kerala’s endeavor to become a front line state in the next five years." The state government has launched an intensive drive in pursuit of this objective," he said. "Now Kerala is open to business and I am indeed happy to note the encouraging response of the investor community to these foregoing initiatives".



Kunhalikutty said, "IT Kerala 2002 has been conceived as an expression of Kerala’s commitment and resolve to promote IT as the key platform for the development of the state. It is an indicator of the significant enhanced presence that Kerala has acquired in the IT map of the region, that this event has grown three fold in just two years." IT Kerala 2002 comprises of two specific windows of business opportunities, the ICT exposition and the International Convention. Over 150 stalls have been spread out in 8000 sq. mtr. of space in Technopark attracting both business visitors and the public alike. The IT Kerala 2002 has been organized by the Government of Kerala in association with MAIT, STPI, Microsoft, BSNL, Airtel and Cyber Expo.
