HYDERABAD: iStrings Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a Hyderabad based application

provider has developed a mobile application server. Christened — mApperver,

the product is designed to cater to the needs of mobile operators, enterprises

and ISPs." It would bridge the gap between the new technologies such as

SMS, Mobile e-mail, UMS, Mobile positioning and WAP, by allowing wireless

developers to build new applications to support all wireless networks, mobile

devices, protocols and mark-up languages," said iStrings director

The server would allow network operators, wireless ASPs and enterprises to

maintain a single infrastructure for all data services regardless of the access

method the end user chooses. It would direct the demand from a wireless device

to the required source and channelise the data to the device accordingly. The

server would provide support and solution for administrative handling of

wireless activity, including the mobile services, informed Chaitanya.

The company is touting for a partnership with some company having its feet

firmly held in the European market. "The majority of our market is based in

the far eastern Europe, so we are looking for tying up with some company having

its presence over there," he added. The partnership would basically be to

promote the product by marketing it in that region.

The enterprise version of the server would be mostly for the companies with

CRM and SCM solutions implemented through their networks and providing wireless

access to the customer's suppliers and employees.

The company is planning to release the server to the market during the second

half of July. Since the server has been developed keeping emerging technologies

in view, it would also support audio and video and video streaming on mobile

devices. "The server has been developed keeping in view the upcoming market

for 3G and GPRS services, so it would support all the latest upcoming

technologies, he explained.

Developed on XML architecture, with out making it language dependent, would

differentiate the server from the existing versions available in the market. The

server intelligently distributes content, information, messaging, applications

and commerce transactions over all major carrier networks and mobile devices.

With the help of this wireless carriers and ASPs can maintain a single

infrastructure for various data services, regardless of the mobile devices.
