Ishoni claims that its broadband gateway platform allows end-user customers

to combine high-speed "always on" Internet access, media-rich content

and voice over a single cable, xDSL, or wireless connection. According to a

press release issued by the company, the Gateway-On-A-Chip also allows service

providers to generate additional revenue through new bundled services to

subscribers over these broadband connections. It is the only broadband platform

to combine voice, networking and security processors on one chip with a complete

software suite. ishoni's Gateway-On-A-Chip provides a smaller, faster, more

complete solution to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of broadband

gateway products and Integrated Access Devices (IADs), states the release.

"ishoni has established itself as the only total solution for OEMs by

creating a complete voice-capable broadband gateway on one chip," said

ishoni Networks chief executive officer Prakash Bhalerao. "By developing a

highly integrated gateway platform that is WAN independent, we are making

broadband equipment more affordable and helping to deliver 'broadband for

everyone'."

The company claims to have designed four versions of its Gateway-On-A-Chip

with a platform that comprises of both silicon and software components that

provides customized software and hardware options for different customer

segments like those who want high-speed Internet access, telecommuters who

require high-speed networking and multiple voice lines, small businesses that

share a secure broadband connection for Internet access and small and

medium-size businesses that want to combine data and voice over a single

broadband connection and local area network.

ishoni will provide OEMs with a product that includes a system on a chip

(SOC), system and application software with drivers, a real-time operating

system (RTOS), protocol stacks, and fully functional reference designs. ishoni

will ship customer samples in May 2000.
