BANGALORE: Bangalore-based ishoni Networks has announced that its broadband
engine will incorporate voice-over-digital-subscriber-line (VoDSL) technology
from Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. The agreement ensures that products that
feature the ishoni broadband engine, including its silicon Gateway-on-a-Chip,
are fully interoperable with Copper Mountain’s CopperEdge and OnPrem DSL
concentrators.
ishoni Networks is the only company to combine onto a single chip the
software and silicon for voice and data networking with a security encryption
engine that enables secure remote virtual private network (VPN) connections. The
Gateway-on-a-Chip also features a FlexibleWAN Engine that supports multiple
broadband technologies. The software that drives the FlexibleWAN Engine conforms
to process multiple protocol solutions, making it an optimal platform for VoDSL
interoperability.
ishoni’s relationship with Copper Mountain Networks is part of its ‘TotalDSL’
initiative to achieve PHY, Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM)
and VoDSL interoperability with the respective leaders in each DSL market
segments. As a result, OEMs will be able to build an IAD for any type of DSL
connection using the same ishoni Gateway-on-a-Chip in every device. ishoni is
also participating in Copper Mountain Networks’ CopperSilicon initiative. The
agreement will allow OEMs to build completely functional broadband gateways and
Internet Application Drivers (IAD) that offer businesses the voice, data and
security functions they demand, including multiple voice-over-broadband phone
lines and embedded security features.
"ishoni has the most complete system-on-a-chip, customer gateway in the
market, and we’re positioned to deliver secure voice and data networking on a
new, unprecedented scale by supporting Copper Mountain’s end-to-end
solutions," said ishoni Networks president William Lee.
"Interoperability with Copper Mountain’s technology allows ishoni to
provide a complete, cost-effective gateway solution for the new Internet."
ishoni Networks builds broadband engines for the new Internet, which allow
customers to use always-on broadband connections for all their voice and
data-networking services. ishoni Networks is building infrastructure to support
new applications for these broadband networks.
