ISA signs MoU with Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association

TAIWAN & HYDERABAD, INDIA: The India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor driven industry, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA). The MoU focuses on developing business ties and exchanges between companies in the semiconductor industry in the two countries.

The historic MoU was signed by S. Janakiraman, chairman, ISA, and Dr. Frank C. Huang, chairman, TSIA, in Taiwan. Dr T.Y. Wu, president TSIA, was also present at the signing.

Janakiraman, said: "Our organizations have agreed to co-operate with each other on a number of activities, key among them being to encourage members to partner one another in mutually beneficial activities relating to the semiconductor industry, to work together to promote and attend international exhibitions and seminars and to assist upon request, on company visits for trade delegations."

Dr. Huang, reiterated this objective, adding: "We see immense potential for successful partnerships between our member companies. Both countries have inherent strengths in this field and industry can definitely forge a winning partnership."

Poornima Shenoy, president, ISA, noted: "Our key objective through this MoU is to foster business relationships among our member companies. We look forward to a number of fruitful partnerships emerging as a result of this MoU. Our two associations may represent each other on various issues to promote the interest of the semiconductor industries in our countries with prior consultation and agreement to such representation."

TSIA has over 150 corporate and associate members, including companies engaged in semiconductor R&D, design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, equipment and materials. It regularly organizes and sponsors a variety of domestic seminars and international symposium, exhibition, networking, etc., to strengthen business linkage and broaden business scope for its member companies.

TSIA also endeavors to build up constructive relationship between the local industry and corresponding international organizations. Major international cooperation activities include the participation of the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) efforts since 1998 and the joining of the World Semiconductor Council (WSC) in 1999, demonstrating TSIA’s role as the bridge between the semiconductor industry in Taiwan and the global semiconductor community.

ISA has around 130 members from the semiconductor driven industry from India and outside it as also its ecosystem. These include design companies, solar fabs, manufacturining companies and others in the ecosystem like venture funds, legal and IP firms.
