Is Noida safe? Young woman shot dead

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Noida police have arrested four men in connection with the murder of a woman employee of Nemesis Solutions.

The accused allegedly shot dead 24-year-old Sheeba G. Thomas in the middle of a road in Noida's Sector 31 around 11:30 on Tuesday night.

The men on motorcycles allegedly dragged her out of a car she was driving before shooting her. Reports said the victim had engaged in an altercation with the accused.

Thomas, who hails from Thiruvalla in Kerala, was earlier an air hostess with Virgin Atlantic.

In a separate incident, three motorcycle-borne men shot at Lt Gen (Retd) T J S Gill near Amity Buisness School in Noida on Tuesday night, a few minutes after Thomas was shot dead.

He was taken to the Army Research and Referral Hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable. The attackers allegedly wanted to steal his car.

Noida, a satellite township of Delhi, is home to many IT and BPO firms, and professionals.

In November 2006, the son of Adobe India CEO Naresh Gupta was kidnapped outside his Noida residence in Sector 20 police station limits.
