Late last week, Hotz revealed that during summer break he developed a process for untethering the Apple iPhone from the AT&T network, to which Apple and AT&T have an exclusive distribution agreement. This process allows the iPhone to work on other GSM compatible networks such as T-Mobile. More important, these phones can be used in Europe where cellular networks are extensively GSM.

On August 27, Hotz and Certicell jointly announced an agreement for the famous iPhone and the related unlocking technology. As part of the transaction, Hotz also agreed to a consulting agreement with the company. In exchange, Hotz will receive a new Nissan 350Z along with three new iPhones. The transaction will occur at Certicell headquarters today.

Additionally, on September 14, Certicell will formally announce on its website its intentions for the Apple iPhone.
