BANGALORE, INDIA: When Apple launched its first iPad some had joked that it was just a bigger iPhone. Today, Apple is geared to launch the new iPad 2. So what can be expected out of the new tablet?

According to Reuters blog: If past is prologue, Apple will do this in two ways: By enhancing it in ways the faithful appreciates – look for more power and space under the hood, but not a USB port – and by keeping the price level while lowering the price of last year’s model.

The blog post adds on that one can expect Apple to extend the iPhone 4 features and form. Also it is widely rumoured that the iPad 2 will come with two cameras. The iPad is already used by serious photographers to edit and share digital images taken with something else.

The Reuters blog post says that the real game is video calling and Apple’s investment in FaceTime. It could be that the new iPad will square off the edges and introduce a flat glass back. Better placement of the speakers, currently only on one side of the bottom edge, is possible, too. There’s been talk that the “Home” button would disappear (no home button was Jobs’ original vision).

However, analysts feel that iPad 2 is not expected to make a splash, as was the case of of the first version or the iPhone for that matter.
