iPad to dominate through 2015

BANGALORE, INDIA: iPad the tablet device from Apple Inc., has been the top choice for both consumer and enterprise tablet users since its debut last April. According to Gartner, the device and its iOS mobile operating system will continue its tablet market dominance through 2015.

iPad commands 83.9 percent of the market. The device will still hold significant market share during the next four years, according to Gartner. Apple's market share will eventually stabilize in 2015, at 47.1 percent, which is still a significant chunk of the market.

Speaking at the recent Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco, Raven Zachary, president of Small Society and developer of Apple iOS applications, told an audience that Android devices may soon catch on. He added that much of Apple's command of the tablet sector has been created out of the fact that the company essentially created the market with the iPad.
