Iomega launches ZipCD

NEW DELHI: Iomega, a leader in data management products in India, has

launched its CD-RW or CD-Rewritables in India under the brand name ZipCD. These

optical tools can be used for numerous applications like creating personal

digital photo albums, family history archives and customized audio CDs.

The ZipCD Rewritable range that will be available in India include Iomega’s

external ZipCD USB drive, the internal ZipCD 4x4x24 ATAPI drive and the ZipCD

8x4x32 ATAPI drive. All ZipCD drives are compatible with Windows 95/98/2000 and

Windows NT.

The Zip CD-RW drives will be available in India from August at Rs 16,300 for

ZipCD USB-external; Rs 12,600 for Internal ZipCD 8x4x32; and Rs 17,400 for

Internal Zip CD 12x4x32 from its distributors Neoteric Infomatique and Ingram

Micro. The ZipCD CD-RW drives also come bundled with a number of useful software

to help users manage their storage solutions effectively and conveniently.

Meanwhile, Iomega also shipped in a new product bundle, MegaTwins for the

Asia-Pacific region comprising Zip 100MB ATAPI drive and ZipCD 8x4x32 CD-RW. The

MegaTwins will be priced at Rs 13,900 and will be available through Iomega’s

two distributors.

Speaking about the company’s plans in the country, Iomega Pacific Pte

business manager Sanjeev Gupta said, "The focus of the future market in

India will be on optical products. For that we might go in for an organic

expansion." He also did not rule out the possibility of Iomega setting up

office in India in the near future.

Speaking about the company’s support being provided to its channels, Gupta

said that Iomega has launched a Premium Partner Program called the Iomega

Certified Partner Program for providing support and training to those enrolled

under the program. Besides, the company also provides support through a call

center, which has been outsourced to a Delhi-based company.
