HYDERABAD: As a part of its efforts to increase outsourcing towards Indian—subcontinent, Invensys, a UK-based production technologies and energy management company, has announced to is to increase its presence at its India Development center based at Hyderabad.

"Its more than one year now since we associated ourselves with Baan and we are very pleased with the performance of our Invensys-Baan team at Hyderabad and now its time to expand our efforts here. We are going to invest more than $ 3 million over a period of one year and the manpower will be increased from the present count of 500 to around 800 professionals," informed, Richard Haythornthwaite, Chief Executive at Invensys.

Invensys has taken this decision as part of its strategy to make the most of its resources in India and ensure best practices. "By expanding our software development activities, we are delivering on our promise to our customers to continually provide them with solutions and generate higher return on investment which is vital in today’s competitive economic environment," he added.

As a direct result of its increased focus towards India, the company already has more than 140 customers and about 80 percent of them are live customers in India. "We think that Indian SME market is worth more than $60 million in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) arena and we are currently providing best of breed solutions for segments such as industrial machinery, process automotive and electronics. We will continue to have a large customer base within India," he explained.

When asked about the significance of Indian operations, Haythornthwaite replied, "By having our software developers co-located in Hyderabad we are able to ensure the interoperability and connectivity of different software systems. So outsourcing is the key for us."

Invensys started its Indian operations ‘Invensys-Baan’ about one year back and it comes under Invensys’ production management division which works closely with customers in order to drive up performance of their production assets, maximize their return on investment in production technologies and remove cost and cash from their whole supply chain. This division addresses process and batch industries — including the oil, gas, chemicals, food, beverage and personal health care and the discreet and hybrid manufacturing sectors as well.
