NEW DELHI: Invensys Powerware India, a 100% subsidiary of Invensys of UK, has decided to make India a manufacturing hub for its South Asia activities. It has also decided to meet the demands of Sri Lanka market from India.

Invensys Powerware designs and manufactures end-to-end power protection and management solutions for Telecom, IT and Industrial customers.

"Increasing local manufacturing will give us an edge over others," said CP Quek, President (Asia Pacific), Invensys Powerware, a division of Invensys. He further added, "India has a vast, experienced and skilled workforce including engineers. This leads to an ability to absorb technology to produce consistent quality products at a relatively lower cost."

"We have done two Technology Transfers from Invensys Powerware to our India operations. We plan to increase this trend over the next couple of years. We also plan to leverage the Free Trade Agreements with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal to augment trade from South Asia subcontinent," added Quek

"We are already exporting some of the equipment to Sri Lanka," said Deepak Sharma, Managing Director of Invensys Powerware India. "We are proud to be associated with three of the largest telecom roll-outs in South Asia during the last year - Reliance Infocomm and Bharti Cellular in India and MTNL in Sri Lanka." "With our new initiatives, we expect a growth of 125 percent and aim to capture a significant market share during the next financial year," he added.
