BANGALORE: Intuit Inc., a developer of small business accounting and personal finance software, today opened its first product development centre in India here.
It also announced plans to hire up to 300 engineers over the next five years.
Intuit has created three of the best-known software brands in the US, QuickBooks software for small and medium-businesses, Quicken personal finance software, and TurboTax tax preparation software.
The company's India Product Centre, a 21,000 square-foot facility at the RMZ Ecospace Campus on Outer Ring Road, is dedicated to pursuing Intuit's
commitment of "Customer-Driven Innovation."
The company currently has an initial team of 17 employees.
"This is far more than a product development centre, it's an innovation centre," said Scott Cook, Intuit co-founder and chairman of the executive committee. "Our success comes from listening to customers and then giving engineers the freedom to innovate."
Cook added that work done at the centre will be on par with that done in the United States and that Indian engineers will play a key role in creating future products, further strengthening the company's development team.
