The Diamond industry is currently structured in Surat and across the India in a way that it operates independently and has no regulatory system or body to govern its functioning. The Surat Diamond Association is working with some great initiatives under Mr Navadiya towards the growth and development of the Diamond industry.

Currently,according to Mr. Navadiya, there is tremendous potential and opportunity for growth in the Diamond industry. There is lots of profits to be made from the Manufacturing side of the industry. Currently the profits are from the activities of diamond polishing and processing. This is also a market where the entire raw material has to be imported from UK, South Africa, Canada, Russia and so on.

Surat now has started to focus on making finished products like jewelry.This opens up a whole new market and opportunity for business growth. Since the priorities have changed over time, technology plays a significant role in the Diamond industry. This industry is highly dependent on IT and the overall industry needs a significant exposure to the various solutions and possibilities that can open up with technology. One can see that with the optimal use of the right technology, the Diamond industry entrepreneurs are now able to produce products of greater quality, structure a better process and deliver better goods.

However this is a labor driven enterprise and more regulatory laws have to be put in place to ensure better productivity, process, structure and results. Currently the Surat Diamond Association has 2,600 members worldwide and is growing every year. The Association plays a major role in addressing some critical issues faced by the industry. Some of the key aspects undertaken by the Association includes: Labor Welfare Medical Camps, Labor Welfare Skill Development, New Technology Exhibitions and Updates on new products and solutions.

Mr Dinesh is passionate about his role in this entire undertaking and believes its important to do this tirelessly to ensure the growth of the Diamond industry.

His focus in 2011/12 apart from the regular activities include the development of a Workers Hospital with specialization in Gynecology and Pediatrics. The other focus is to provide training and specialization to SMB from the Gemology Association of America. Its commendable to see the energy and commitment Mr. Dinesh has towards the Diamond industry.
