MILPITAS, USA: Intersil Corp. announced the ISL85410 and ISL85418 synchronous buck regulators that are ideal for complex industrial and medical systems.
The new buck regulators efficiently down-convert the DC voltage from a power supply or battery to power multiple microprocessors and board components, at various voltage requirements, helping to minimize power loss.
The ISL85410/18 offer designers maximum flexibility, operating over a wide range of input and output voltages, and because the devices are pin-to-pin compatible, a single layout can be leveraged across multiple systems, accelerating time to market and reducing design cost.
The ISL85410/18 synchronous buck regulators are highly integrated resulting in better efficiency while reducing the number of required external components and enabling a compact footprint. The ISL85410/18 synchronous buck regulators integrate both the high-side and low-side field-effect transistors (FETs), eliminating the need for an inefficient low-side diode.
By also eliminating the need for external compensation, the overall bill of materials (BOM) is reduced to only five external components. The minimal component count of the ISL85410/18 reduces the solution footprint size and overall space requirements for a power design, which is important for space constrained applications.
Intersil's ISL85415 synchronous buck regulator is also pin-to-pin compatible with the ISL85410/18, and together provide system designers with a versatile down-converting solution that can be used to support a wide input voltage range from 3V to 36V with 500mA to 1A options.
Designers can easily reuse a single proven, reliable layout for different power levels allowing for enhanced flexibility, reduced design time and accelerated time to market.
