International tech park to dot Chennai map

CHENNAI: The first phase of the International Tech Park Chennai (ITPC) jointly promoted by Singapore based Ascendas and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Co (TIDCO) is expected to go live by mid - 2005. Ascendas is into providing total business space solutions with Asia Pacific being its key market. In India, it is focused in providing space solutions targeting the IT companies.



The park, which is coming up in the IT corridor (Chennai), will cover 1.5 million sq foot of space and will target IT, ITeS, BPOs and call center companies as its occupants. The first phase comprises of 11-storey buildings built in 520,000 sq foot of space and is expected to hold over 6,000 employees.



According to a company official, it has roped in leading software vendors both within and outside Chennai as the early occupants in ITPC.



This tech park will have amenities such as ATMs, food court, medical clinic, retail outlets etc. Besides, according to the officials, it has 100 percent power back up, multiple Internet and telecom service providers, etc.



Besides the international technology park in Chennai, Ascendas in JV with Tata and Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) had set up the international technology park in Bangalore. Secondly, in a JV with L&T, Ascendas has completed the first phase of the Cyber Park within the Hi-Tech City in Hyderabad. This is a 250,000 sq feet facility. It is also planning for the second phase, which is another 250,000 sq. meter. Ascendas even has a small stake in the Gurgaon IT Park.
