MUMBAI: ‘Growth’ is the mantra, and penetrating untapped Indian IT markets with technology is the motto of Intel for the coming year. Emerging technologies are going to drive the growth for Intel this year and the company is going to put more thrust on emerging technologies, that include hyper threading, recently launched ‘Centrino’ platform for wireless and mobility and Itanium in servers. Also it would push Digital Home concept through its various channel partners all across the country.

Amar Babu, General Manger, Channels, South-Asia, Intel said, "With the induction of newer technologies in our kitty, growth in ‘B’ and ‘C’ class cities is the prime objective for us. We want to grow in each and every corner of the country."

With hyper threading technology, Intel is planning to give boost to the processing power by making applications and operating systems more powerful. The technology, initially available only on the Intel Xeon processors as part of its NetBurst micro architecture, basically makes a single processor operate as two logical processors, giving it the ability to execute threads in parallel rather than switching back and forth between functions as resources become available.

Wireless and mobility is going to be another thrust area for the company this year. The challenge for Intel is to make wireless mobility relevant in the country where the laptops are beyond the reach of SMB segment. To make this happen the company will gear-up its channel partners and is also planning to have joint promotions with wireless service providers.
