JAIPUR: Intel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IL&FS to accelerate technology transformation across 6,50,000 villages in India.
Speaking on the MoU, John McClure, director - Marketing Intel South Asia, said, "We provide connectivity, education and content to villages across India."
According to the MoU, Intel plans to establish 100,000 service centers in the next 12 months to provide PC literacy, web browsing and research to villagers. These centers will be individually owned.
Through this programme, Intel expects to help over 30 million students across India by 2008. Education will be imparted in local languages.
The company has started this initiative in West Bengal.
