After claiming success in selling Intel microspocessor-based workstations, the high-performance computing company SGI plans to
launch a range of Intel-based servers next month.
The pricing of the new range of servers will be kept highly
competitive, in line with the pricing of Intel-based workstations launched in January by
SGI.
SGI launched a technology demonstration centre with an aim
to enhance industry's computing standards in the country. The centre, powered by Intel's
microprocessing architecture, is located at Silicon Graphics headquarters near Delhi and
will soon set up a similar centre in Bangalore.
The centre is the first of its kind in the country to set
up the visual technology hub with Intel and to take the lead in showcasing high-end
technology on the widely accepted Intel architecture. To act as a tech hub, it will
provide the required scalability to perform mission critical workstation tasks. Located at
the SGI facility at Gurgaon, the "tech hub" will showcase solutions built on
Intel and SGI technologies.
The technology centre will display Intel processor-based
SGI workstations to demonstrate how groundbreaking performances have been achieved using
industry standard building blocks. The facility will provide SGI and Intel customers first
hand experience of high-end applications on the Intel platform.
