Last week saw the launch of version 6.0 of VTune Performance Analyzer, Intel’s
tuning tool for developers to help them optimize the software being written with
respect to the processor it will run on. At the last IDF held in Bangalore a few
months ago, developers had been exposed to this tool--its earlier version--in
detail. This time around, Intel introduced the VTune Enterprise Analyzer. This
tool is still in its beta version–maybe that’s why it didn’t get a
dedicated session now.
So what is the VTune Enterprise Analyzer? It’s a tool that will let you
optimize your Web services development process. Just as the VTune Performance
Analyzer lets you optimize the application in development, the Enterprise
Analyzer lets one figure out the bottlenecks in the Web services you’re
working on. At three levels–the front-end, application and the database
levels. This tool is meant for developers, quality analysis teams and system
integrators. It gives the diagnosis on what the user experience is like given
the infrastructure being used. It measures the time taken between machines to
respond to a request, and give statistical and interactive reports on it. To
join the beta program, visit http://www.intel.com/software/products/vtune/enterprise/beta.htm.
At the forum developers were also being exposed to Intel’s Early Access
Program. Signing up for this lets them get access to resources to develop
solutions that run best on Intel’s latest microprocessors. This would cost $
500.
