Intel launches World Ahead Program in UP

LUCKNOW (UP), INDIA: Intel today announced the launch of its World Ahead Program in Uttar Pradesh. Intel launched its successful teacher training program Intel Teach, aimed at training teachers of secondary schools in UP on applying technology in education, and also announced a donation of 50 personal computers for the benefit of schools in the state.

The Program was launched in the presence of Rangnath Mishra, Minister for Secondary Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh, A.K. Misra, Principal Secretary, Secondary Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Rahul Bedi, director, corporate affairs, Intel - South Asia.

The Intel World Ahead Program brings alive the advantages of organized ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) adoption, by providing access to PCs, enabling broadband Internet connectivity, educating teachers and students on the application of technology in day-to-day life, the release said.

It would empower citizens to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to better healthcare. Speaking at the occasion, Rahul Bedi said, “We are pleased to launch our world ahead program in Uttar Pradesh and create an environment where students will find learning easier and interesting with a technology-aided curriculum.”

He said under World Ahead Program, Intel is working to improve the overall quality of education, by providing schools access to technology through PCs, and preparing teachers on effective use of technology in education. At the event, Intel exchanged MoUs for Intel World Ahead Program and for the Intel Teach Program, with the Director, Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh.

The Intel Teach Program over the last eight years has impacted over 9,05,000 teachers across 15 state governments, 2 union territories, 55 teacher education universities and central government schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya, the release added.

Intel’s PC Donation Program in India envisages a donation of 10,000 PCs, covering 3000 schools and impacting over a million students.

This announcement is in line with Intel’s efforts to connect a billion Indians to the Internet, and enable them leverage its unlimited potential.

In August 2008, Intel facilitated a collaborative movement called ‘Connected Indian’, where government, industry associations and private enterprise came together for the common cause of connecting a billion Indians.
