Integration is the key

GOA: Enterprises need to think long term benefits while strategizing enterprise architecture for their businesses. Every application running on a system may eventually need to "talk", to every other system in the world in real time, according to Deepak B Pathak, IIT Mumbai.

He said that the architecture must permit integration with other enterprise application and unknown new future application. The architecture must define the semantics. The new standards in architecture must permit ‘quick development’, insist on API availability, use configurators,reduce platform dependency and avoid proprietary tools.

The key factor to remember is that IT is all about efficiency and timeliness. Cost effectiveness is critical for long term strategies. For this enterprises need to take into consideration other imperatives like implementing thin clients/servers, use internet technologies and go for open source environment. They need to build solutins which minimizes TCO.

Security architecure is critical for any enterprises and is an ever involving issue. They need to ensure that PKI infrastructure is in place, digital signature to be authorised by more than one CAS and the likes.
