Steve Shine, executive vice president of world operations, would speak at JBoss World in a joint presentation with Fima Katz, CEO of Exadel on Thursday, said a press release.

Shine and Katz would discuss “Building Java Applications in the Cloud” and will review how developers and ISVs can use open source and the cloud to write java applications as a way to drive down deployment costs with Ingres, JBoss, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

“Even as the economy begins to rebound, companies will still be looking for ways to cut cost,” said Steve Shine.

“Developing and deploying applications with open source in the cloud offers companies a new way to lower costs without losing scalability or robustness. Partnering the cloud and open source takes the New Economics of IT to the next level and in the end, the customer wins,” he added.

“Exadel is well positioned to help companies move their development and production environments of RIA and mission critical applications to the cloud and achieve the real cost savings there are to offer,” said Fima Katz, CEO of Exadel.

Wood’s session, “Using Open Source Technologies on Facebook” is part of the Red Hat Summit. He would explore how Rivet Logic delivered a next generation application with open source on the social networking site.

Using the Ingres Database for the repository with JBoss, Alfresco, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rivet Logic was able to create a cost-effective solution for Connected Weddings, a Facebook application that helps with wedding planning and connecting wedding guests, said the release.

Social Networking sites have become a new platform for developers to launch products or services,” said Woods.

He further said that as these sites are leveraged by developers, it’s important that there is a cost-effective solution with business critical scalability and performance. Open source offers developers that type of performance with a much less expensive barrier to entry.
