Ingram gets back Mamidanna for India

BANGALORE: The Asian subsidiary of the world's largest computers and IT products distributor, Ingram Micro Asia Limited has appointed Prasad Mamidanna as President and CEO of Ingram Micro India Private Limited. Mamidanna returns to Ingram Micro Asia after a two-year absence. A press statement from the company announced. In addition to leading the Indian operations, he will be responsible for business development throughout the region. Mamidanna will be based in Ingram Micro's Singapore office, which is the headquarters for the Asia-Pacific region.


During his 20-year career within the IT industry, Mamidanna, founded Spectra Innovations India Private Limited, which was purchased by Ingram Micro in 1999 and subsequently renamed Ingram Micro India Limited. Also, he served as acting Managing Director for Ingram Micro Australia to help transition that operation during 2000. Mamidanna will report to Hans Koppen, President, Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific.

"We are thrilled to have Prasad back on our leadership team, I know he will bring valuable experience and knowledge of the Indian IT industry to his new role as President and Chief Executive Officer," said Koppen. "His focus will be on leading the current India management team and developing new growth areas, revenue streams and strategies for Ingram Micro India.

As an edict to all Ingram Micro executives, Prasad will also actively explore areas to improve business processes and create efficiencies for our customers, vendors and the company, ultimately increasing the service level and value Ingram Micro provides to the region."


Effective immediately, NY Prasad, Chief Operating Officer, Ingram Micro India Ltd, will report to Prasad Mamidanna. KN Sahney will continue to remain active in the Indian operations, and focus his efforts on the company's exports from South Asia and Indo-China businesses. Sahney will continue to report to Koppen.

The restructuring in the company is taken, after the company's decision to thrust more focus to the Indian region. Ingram Micro has identified India has a high growth potential market and hence the move to bifurcate India from the Indo-China region of Ingram Micro Asia.
