Infy not faring well in China: Shibulal

MYSORE, INDIA: Infosys chief operating officer S.D. Shibulal informed on Tuesday that the company was not faring well in China, as it was sub-scale.

“Currently, we have about 3,500 employees working out of there. Soon, we are going to scale it up to 10,000,” he explained.

The CEO designate was addressing media persons at the announcement of the IT major's first quarter results, which sort of disappointed the investors.

Infosys has posted $22.20 million revenue from its China operations in the quarter. Most recently, it launched its operations in Shanghai this February.

Infosys, which seemed very cautious about the global market, revised its revenue guidance for this fiscal to Rs. 32,311 crore, from Rs.32,270 crore projected in the beginning of the financial year.

However, the results did not cheer the investors and on the closing of the market, the company shares were down 4.27 per cent at Rs. 2,794.25 at BSE. This was reflected in sensex too, which lost 309.77 points and closed at 18,411.62.
