NEW DELHI: The Delhi-based Infozech, a billing solutions provider who has been focusing on the overseas market, is now exploring the Indian market. Its main areas of operation in billing are in IP telephony, carrier reconciliation and fraud management. The focus area in India as of now is carrier reconciliation, which, however, is at a nascent stage. In fact, Infozech's attempts to raise the issue of carrier reconciliation with leading cellular operators six months ago failed as nobody wanted to address the issue due to DoT's monopoly.
Hence creating awareness is first on the agenda. To that end, Infozech has started a newsletter called Telcomine, which carries articles on the latest technology trends in telecom. This newsletter is mailed free of cost to senior executives in the telecom industry. Infozech's breakthrough has come in the form of two Delhi-based cellular operators, Bharti Cellular and Essar, which have installed the mediation software by Hughes Software Systems on which Infozech's solutions runs.
Infozech also completed a project with a cellular operator for fraud management, which involved tracing the use of multiple pre-paid SIM cards from one cell phone. Infozech's flagship product, eBill, addresses the IP telephony market. It has several international clients, which includes being an OEM to the US-based Array Telecom for its IP telephony product, Series 3000 Gateway, and Singapore-based Magic Tel. eBill figured among the top billing products of 1999 reviewed by the magazine, Telecom Billing System. With a turnover of Rs 1 crore during the last fiscal, the company expects to rake in Rs 2.5 crore by the end of this fiscal.
