BANGALORE: To help accelerate India's march towards becoming global knowledge super power by 2020, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is hosting Infovision, an annual global summit in India for Knowledge Industry and Knowledge Society for the second consecutive year here next month .
The summit, which aims to congregate leaders and professionals across the information and knowledge spectrum, essentially works to chart out a detailed road map for the country in its aim to become Knowledge Super Power by 2020.
"InfoVison 2006 is a platform for Knowledge Industry to come together and deliberate and discuss a roadmap for India to make it Knowledge Superpower," commented Ashok Soota, chairman CII mission on Knowledge and Skills.
Soota added that the summit will focus on topics that are very of paramount importance to the knowledge based economy of the country.
InfoVision2006 will have eminent speakers who will be sharing their experience and visions about knowledge-based society. Among others Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia, Rory L Chase, founder of Teleos, company that conducts MAKE program, Leif Edvinson, Professor of Intellectual Capital, at Lund University, Sweden, Sam Pitroda, chairman, Knowledge Commission, Ajit Balakrishnan, CEO Rediff.com and Shobha Purushottam of Newsmarket, USA will address the two day summit that will end of 29th September 2006..
InfoVison 2006 will have discussions on wide range of topics concerning news and media, digital libraries, new cyber genres (Wikis, Blogs, Collaborative tools and models), intellectual capital, Business and Competitive Intelligence and innovation and intellectual property management.
Buoyed by the response of the InfoVision 2005 summit, which was conceptualized as a one off event, will now be held every year, CII expects to improve on the list of 300 participants which attended the summit last year.
The participants covered entire gamut of knowledge industry spectrum including people from academia, industry, government and the user groups. CII expects to attract similar attendees this year also.
