p>HYDERABAD: Infotech Enterprises Ltd., a Hyderabad-based global provider of
GIS, engineering, Internet and general IT based software services, has bagged an
order to supply mapping data for Ebone, a division of Global Telesystems, Inc
— a broadband IP and optical networking firm involved in Europe.
Ebone is currently implementing a Pan-European geographical information
system to cover all the cities in which it has a networking presence. Ebone has
commissioned Infotech Enterprises Europe to supply large scale mapping data for
several European cities such as Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Milan and Berlin.
Mapping scale ranges from 1:500 and 1:1,000 and up to 1:10,000 and covers
details of street and building outlines in these data. Ebone has also outsourced
data capture and conversion work to Infotech Enterprises Europe to obtain civil,
cable and optical information.
About the Ebone contract, Infotech Enterprises (managing director) Mohan
Reddy said, "It is a long-term project and I hope it will reinforce our
leadership in the telecommunication sector for providing GIS solutions. The fact
that we are going to cover cities like Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Milan and Berlin
