BANGALORE: Reliance IndiaMobile has unveiled a special entertainment platform to provide infotainment to their subscribers on their mobile handsets in addition to other services already in air.
The information will include new movie launches, music albums, etc, taking ample care of its customers. The company has tied up with the latest Kannada entertainer movie ‘Ranga SSLC’. Earlier they have already tied up with movies like Waarish, Virumani, etc.
Reliance Infocomm Ltd., is India’s largest mobile service provider with over 7 million customers. Earlier, in Feb 2004, the company had introduced the RIM prepaid connection has touched a customer base of 1 million subscribers across the country. The 2nd phase will start from tomorrow, which comprises of rolling out the multi media handsets starting with the price tag of Rs.2,999 onwards.
"At the moment, Reliance has a penetration of 4, 89, 968 subscribers in Karnataka, which has been possible with the unmatched data service through its R World, " informed Mahesh Prasad, President-Applications Solutions Group, Reliance Infocomm.
"These days when people are hungry for information and don’t have time to watch TV or listen to radio, we are bringing the information to them on their handsets to keep them abreast of the current happenings in the entertainment world. We are the first in India to marry entertainment with mobile phones, " he added.
"This will not only keep them informed, but also let them enjoy the music also. In addition, they will also get to know the movie content, which includes movie trailers, wall papers, poll, plot and most importantly a contest that provides an opportunity to the participants to win prizes," he said.
He added that this 360 degree effort also provides them the opportunity to showcase their broadband technology." The new features will allow its subscribers to explore and check their bank balances sitting at home. Students can check their marks card over the phone based on the roll number.
The company is also planning to add the railway reservation and airline services on its mobile phones.
