On Friday, it was none other than the chief executive officer, who had to align himself to their line of fire. At a top management-employee meeting held Friday morning, it is learnt that Shibulal had to fend off a barrage of pointed questions from those who attended the meet on why the management withheld the hike employees had duly deserved.
He was not alone, though, in dealing with the worrisome situation that threatens to snowball into a crisis. Senior vice-president and group head, Human Resources, Nandita Gurjar and chief financial officer V. Balakrishnan also addressed the aggrieved employees, sources said.
The CEO had stated recently, "We are an open organization and have always encouraged our employees to give feedback. After every result announcement, we have quarterly town halls addressed by our leadership team to discuss the state of business. We use these and other communication forums to address their queries."
Apparently, the feedback this time around was too hot to handle for himself, to an extent that he couldn't answer several questions.

"I, and you, know for a fact that nothing substantial would come out from such exercise. They didn't commit themselves to anything, but assured that they would resolve it soon," said an insider. So, as of now, the status quo remains.
Meanwhile, we heard that Infosys had blocked CIOL (www.www.ciol.com) on its local network since Thursday, the second such instance after the technology major announced its annual results last Friday. Some staff, who were to log on to their client networks, could access the site.
A company spokesperson, however, denied it and said that they had never blocked access to the site.
