BANGALORE: Software service leader Infosys Technologies Ltd. said it
inaugurated on Friday a new software development facility in the port city of
Mangalore. Mangalore is located about 350 km (220 miles) southwest of Bangalore,
capital of the southern state of Karnataka, where Infosys is headquartered.
The state's chief minister, S.M. Krishna, inaugurated the Mangalore facility,
Infosys said in a statement. A spokeswoman for the company told Reuters that
Infosys, which started operations in Mangalore in 1995, already had some 800
workers there spread over various offices. The new facility can take up to 950
employees, she said.
