BANGALORE: Indian computer software bluechip Infosys Technologies Ltd on
Wednesday said that it had invested one million Singapore dollars (US $576,400)
in M-Commerce Ventures Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based venture capital fund.
A statement from the Nasdaq-listed Infosys said that M-Commerce Ventures is
administered by EDB Investments Pte Ltd, the investment arm of the Singapore
Economic Development Board.
"M-Commerce Ventures intends to focus on mobile portals, personal
information management and messaging, bandwidth optimization and other areas in
the wireless space," the statement said.
"Wireless technologies are the logical next step for businesses seeking
to push their digital frontiers," said Infosys’ deputy managing director
S Gopalakrishnan.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Infosys share on Wednesday closed at Rs
6,608.25, down 8.7 per cent or Rs 573.20 in an overall weak tech market.
