MUMBAI, INDIA: With economic recovery on the tracks, Infosys today said that it was looking for new acquisitions around the world and planning to hire in thousands.
Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan said on the sideline of the NASSCOM Leadership Forum 2010 here that Infosys will hire about 15,000 employees for FY 2011. The offers for the same are being made in campuses, he added.
The Infosys CEO also said the total gross offers made in FY 2010 will be 25000. The final number of the offers for FY 2011 will be decided at a later stage, he added.
Acquisitions
Gopalakrishnan said that Infosys was open to looking for acquisitions across verticals.
“We are basically looking for acquisitions in Europe and other non-English-speaking countries. We are also looking at acquisitions in the US to fill some gaps in the consultancy business,” he added.
The Infosys CEO said the China market was also important to the company and was looking to leverage on the investments made there.
“The China center is basically a delivery center and we have to do a lot more in that country,” he said.
Commenting on the financial crisis facing Europe, Gopalakrishnan said, “We have to be cautious because there is a possibility of things getting worse.”
Patents
Gopalakrishnan said Infosys has some 200 plus patent application pending. “They are at different stages of approval and we will continue to add to that,” he added.
