NEW DELHI, INDIA: Indian IT major Infosys and EADS, a known name in aerospace and defence, jointly announced the decision to set up IITs-ParisTech fund worth euro 200,000 to pave for partnerships between elite institutions of India and France.
Infosys and EADS will provide donation of euro 100,000 each for this fund. The objective will be to structure a long-term cooperation in education and research between ParisTech, which is a collegiate university in France, and IITs.
At the students' level, it will allow both Indian and French students to be exposed to the best education programs in engineering in partnership with companies. These students will also have the opportunity to contribute to the exciting challenges in science and technology at their partner institutions.
At the research level, a long-term cooperation in target areas will be established through the co-supervision of doctoral students who will share their time during their PhD research between research groups in France and India.
Out of this total fund, euro 70,000 will be used for bearing traveling cost of students between India and France. The remaining part of the fund, euro 130,000, will be used for developing long-term cooperation in education and research between ParisTech and IITs.
“We expect that 20 students will be able to get benefit of this fund each year but we are yet to come up with the final numbers and other specifics,” said Prof. Devang V Khakhar, Director of IIT Bombay.
On the occasion, six agreements between Indian and French companies were signed under the flagship of Indo-French CEO forum in the field of energy, education and infrastructure.
