BANGALORE, INDIA: Infosys Technologies, India's second largest IT firm, which announced a leadership change on Saturday, announced that it has decided to drop 'Technologies' from the company's name as part of its re-branding exercise and the company will be now called Infosys Ltd.
Infosys said in a regulatory filing that the company Board had approved the name change.
"We have decided to re-name the company as part of our re-branding exercise. The brand Infosys is so strong that we felt 'Technologies' is no longer required in line with its profile with a broad range of end-to-end services," Infosys' newly appointed co-chairman S. Gopalakrishnan told reporters.
As part of the leadership change K.V. Kamath has been named the chairman, while Narayana Murthy will remain emeritus chairman. S.D Shibulala is the new CEO
Infosys said it would seek shareholders' approval on the proposal at its 30th annual general meeting to be held on June 11.
The new leadership will take charge on August 21, 2011.
