BANGALORE, INDIA: Infosys Technologies, India's No. 2 software services company, is likely to replace its CEO in April as part of a strategy to give founders a shot at running the company, the Economic Times said on Wednesday.
Chief Operating Officer S.D. Shibulal, one of seven engineers who founded Infosys in 1981, is likely to take over from the Chief Executive S Gopalakrishnan, the newspaper said citing sources whom it did not name.
A company official declined to comment on the report.
Gopalakrishnan took over from fellow founder Nandan Nilekani in 2007, who in turn became chief executive when N.R. Narayana Murthy stepped down and became just chairman.
A majority of the company's board wants the CEO transition to be separated and done ahead of Murthy's retirement in August this year, the paper quoted one source as saying.
Last month, third-ranked Wipro Ltd replaced its joint chief executives of its key outsourcing business with a company veteran T.K. Kurien to make the organisation structure simpler.
