BANGALORE, INDIA: Infosys BPO, the business process outsourcing (BPO) unit of Indian IT major Infosys Technologies, is planning to expand its business in the U.S. and Europe.
It plans to acquire a couple of mid-size companies worth $50 million–$200 million, said Infosys BPO's chief executive officer and managing director Amitabh Chaudhry.
"We are looking for platform-based acquisitions that would provide certain domain expertise and also scale up our business. This will help add our international presence,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the announcement of the quarterly financial results of Infosys here today.
Chaudhry said even though the market was facing a tough time, the BPO unit has managed to perform decently with $79.8 million revenue in the quarter and an operating margins of 22 per cent.
He said, “Every quarter we have added around 20–30 new clients, and even in the employee side the attrition rate has remained more or less the same at 1400 employees.”
He also said the BPO unit is expecting $340 million of revenue for the financial year.
