BANGALORE: Informatica Corporation, US-based provider of data integration and business analytic software, has opened a research and development lab in India in Bangalore. The company plans to build up a size of 120 engineers by the end of 2004 setting aside an investment of roughly $5 million. It spends roughly $48 million on R&D annually from a total turnover of $195 million it reported during the financial year 2002.
"This lab is of strategic importance to our global operations. We will be developing critical components at this facility that further enhance our entire suite of integration and analytics software," stated the president and CEO of Informatica Corporation, Gaurav Dhillon. "The Indian software talent would help us in our endeavor to build world class products and understand client needs better."
The company has a handful of clients in India, including RBI and ICICI. They are also planning to ramp up its reach in the country by appointing distributors to market its products. It also has an on-going relationship with India’s leading system integrators-TCS, Wipro and Infosys in leveraging Informatica’s location-transparent product architecture to deliver analytic solutions" to their customers.
The company offers primarily three products, PowerCenter, Warehouse and Power Analyzer. While PowerCenter is an integrated business analytics suite, including enterprise data integration platform, Warehouse is a suite of packaged and domain specific data warehouses. PowerAnalyzer is the only Internet-based business intelligence solution.
