Features: Infinera has unveiled new capabilities to help cable

operators migrate their networks to next-generation architecture and leverage

the exploding demand for bandwidth and new services including consumer triple

play, and voice and data services for business. The Infinera DTN enables cable

operators to create a simplified agile optical layer in their networks,

positioning them to react quickly to growth or changes in demand patterns.

Infinera DTN
Cable

operators face dramatically growing bandwidth demands as they move to offer

digital television services, video on demand (VoD), high-definition television,

and voice over IP (VoIP), as well as much faster high-speed data services, up to

100 Mbps per household, while retaining legacy analog television service.

In addition, cable operators are increasingly leveraging their networks to offer
voice and data services to enterprises. Faced with these challenges, cable

operators need to implement network architectures that can handle multiple

services types and react quickly to growth, yet are simplified and

cost-effective.

The Infinera DTN offers density of 320 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a single bay.
Infinera's 10 Gb/s transport and 800 Gb/s capacity in a single bay provide the

industry's highest density. Combined with the fully reconfigurable switching

and simple, fast, and flexible provisioning inherent in the Digital Optical

Networking paradigm. With a digital architecture, cable service providers can

now take advantage of an agile optical layer as their network grows over time
