Industry, Netizens express solidarity with Anna

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The government finally succumbs to unyielding social activist, Anna Hazare, who is expected to hold fast at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.

It is not just the ‘common man’ who extended support to the Gandhian, but the IT and telecom industry has also expressed solidarity with Hazare that may leave Sibal red-faced.

Nawal Kumar Sawarthia, CEO of XAGE Communications said that his company welcomed the initiative taken by Anna and his team. "As a responsible corporate entity, we support such campaigns and extend moral support to Anna," he explained.

Luminous Power Technologies, too, stated that it supported Hazare's campaign. "We see it as a very bold and essential move to weed out corruption in India. We also feel that corruption has become an integral part of the entire system and some stringent measures are needed to eradicate it," the company's spokesperson said.

Ashok Kumar, MD & CEO of RAH Infotech, believes that Hazare has a very strong role to play in the fight against corruption.  "We are ready to offer any kind of support required to put an end to corruption," he said, adding that this initiative would bring huge difference in the functioning of the system.

Salora International is another ardent supporter of the anti-corruption movement that is currently the talk of the country. "We see it as a very brave and fundamental move to curb corruption in India," the company said.

Rajesh Goenka, vice-president, Sales and Marketing at Rashi Peripherals, said that they supported Hazare whole-heartedly.

Meanwhile, during the last 30 days, Hazare is creating waves in the online world. Google Insights for search suggests that the anti-corruption crusader's popularity is soaring to a new high. Netizens from across the globe are searching for Anna Hazare.

Obviously, India topped the charts, while UAE and Singapore followed during the previous week. The latest trends suggest that the US was leading on searches related to Hazare and was placed only after India.

A comparative analysis between Anna Hazare and freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose reveals that after Gandhi, it is Anna Hazare who has been curiously searched on Google.

The trends suggest that Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, UP and Delhi are the top-five states searching for Anna Hazare.

The searches related to Anna Hazare are: Anna Hazare News, Anna Hazare Corruption, Lokpal and Support Anna Hazare.
