BANGALORE, INDIA: redBus, India’s largest online bus tickets company, has introduced 5 languages on their site - Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. It is India’s first travel site to go multi-lingual.

Phanindra Sama, CEO, redBus said, “Bus travel has a very wide segment of users – right from agents, distributors to end-consumers. A large segment prefers their local language. Keeping this in mind we decided to add this feature on our site. This makes us India’s first travel site to pull it off.”

Mayank Bidawatka, head marketing, redBus said, “Our site is accessed by many who prefer the local language. Secondly, we noticed many local language blogs and sites that are doing very well. This was a clue that customers prefer this to English. More so, we are India’s first travel site to be introducing such a feature. We are sure customers will take to this.”

“Customers have been calling us in our centers and complimenting us on the initiative. This gives us the confidence to build an intelligent system that will identify a customer by their IP address and serve him the site in the language he/she is most likely to speak. Such a system will be the first of its kind in the travel industry. This level of customization will go lengths in creating value for customers,”he added.
