The study was a review of the employees, designed to give an insight into their mental mobility status and their readiness to change jobs.

The Mobility Index acted as a gauge of the extent to which employees were thinking of changing their jobs in the short term. It showed Indians were most open to shifting their jobs in the next six months and people in the age group of 35 to 55 were comparatively less open about a job change. Those in the salary bracket of Rs five to ten lakh were the least mobile in India whereas in the US, the junior profesionals to mid career (45,000 to 50,000 USD salary bracket) levels were the most mobile.

''Employees in Bangalore are the most mobile in India, which means that they are most open for a job change in six months,'' it said.

Quoting the survey, Pandiarajan cited eight reasons for the employees to look for change that included, organizational circumstances, better employment opportunity, personal desire for change, personal ambitions to get into senior management level, personal ambitions in specific areas, dissatisfaction with present employer and employer being dissatisfied with employees.

Pandiarajan said mobility in the last few months was largely affected due to the economic crisis. Pinning hopes on the market change, the survey said over 80 per cent of Indians were certain about finding a different job in the short term and those in 25-44 age group were confident of finding jobs in the short term.
