Speaking on the occasion, S. Satyamoorthy said “India is the number one consumer of Open Source Technologies in the world, but have not contributed much in terms of development to the open source market. This scenario is changing slowly and I believe this major step from InApp to set up the JBoss Centre of Excellence will add fuel to that. As InApp have caught on to the JBoss scenario early in the game, your developers will have the advantage of working with the latest technology in the world. I hope to see InApp win next year’s JBoss World’s Innovative Solution of the Year award.” “We have launched the JBoss Center of Excellence to directly stimulate and support work around open source technologies, especially using JBoss Application Server. This is a “first of its kind” venture in India, and we hope to take India’s open source e-governance initiatives the extra mile,” said Satish Babu, president, InApp and secretary, CSI National Council. Emphasizing this, Amarnath Raja, CEO, InApp and chair, IEEE Kerala Section, said, “In recent years, we have witnessed the changing face of Java from J2EE to the Java EE 5 paradigm. To keep up with this change and to bring the benefits of this beautiful programming paradigm to the open source scenario in India especially in the e-governance sector and the larger public, we have come up with this initiative”.

By launching the JBoss Center of Excellence, InApp, a RedHat partner, and a pioneer in the spread of open source technologies in India, hopes to bring the benefits of JBoss to the e-governance scenario in India, their customers, and the larger public. JBoss offers the services and software that integrates with products such as the JBoss Application Server, the first Java EE 5 certified open source application server; Apache Jakarta Tomcat, the most popular Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages web container; the Hibernate object/relational mapping engine; and JBoss jBPM open source business process management software.

S. Satyamoorthy is one of the key open source specialists in Asia Pacific. From the start of his career at Unisys, he was an ardent evangelist of open source technologies and Java. He was one of the earliest customers of JBoss since 2001. He was the Head of Asia Pacific operations before JBoss merged with RedHat. Presently he is the Principal Evangelist for JBoss in Asia Pacific.
