MUMBAI, INDIA: Hosting and cloud solution provider Parallels has announced that the adoption of cloud services among Indian small and medium businesses (SMBs) continues to grow rapidly as more service providers are fully equipped to launching and managing new services to meet the growing needs of the country’s burgeoning SMBs.

Unveiling the the latest Parallels SMB Cloud Insights research for India, the report said that the Indian SMB market for the cloud services estimated at Rs. 17 billion (US$339 million), and is expected to grow 35 percent year-over-year for the next three years, reaching Rs. 42 billion (US$839 million) by the beginning of 2016.

The report further added that in addition to growth in web presence and web applications, opportunities lie in Indian service providers to offer SMB customers easy-to-consume hosted infrastructure, which includes cloud servers and storage.

“Parallels is committed to enabling millions of India’s SMBs to transform the way they do business by helping them migrate to the cloud and reap its full benefits,” said David Dzienciol, Vice President and General Manager, Parallels Asia Pacific.

Highlighting the growth of infrastructure development at rapid rate in India, the report said, Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) will experience steady growth with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30 percent through 2016 to become a Rs. 17.2 billion (US$344 million) market.

Another opportunity for huge growth and opportunity for Indian service providers is to offer SMB customers easy-to-consume hosted infrastructure (Infrastructure as a Service), which includes cloud servers and storage, it added.

“As a country with a mature IT population coupled with the ever-growing broadband infrastructure across the nation, India continues to offer a highly positive growth outlook for cloud services and we look forward to Parallels continuing to play a key role in driving this growth,” added Dzienciol.

Parallels predicts continued steady growth in IaaS across all size segments of Indian SMBs-especially as more SMBs gain access to the Internet, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30 percent through 2016 to become a Rs. 17.2 billion (US$344 million) market.

The Indian web presence market was also an area of growth, increasing by a substantial 45 percent in the past year, reaching a current market size of Rs. 2.7 billion (US$55 million). However, overall use of websites is still low, even when compared to other developing countries, indicating strong continued opportunity in web presence and web applications over the next several years.

Parallels expects the growth in web presence and web applications to remain high over the next several years, with the Indian SMB web presence market growing by at least 36 percent year-over-year, reaching Rs. 6.8 billion (US$137million) in 2016.
