BANGALORE: Germany is expecting more and more Indian IT companies to set up their offices in Frankfurt. It is also looking forward to have more and more skilled Indian IT professionals. Frankfurt in Germany has emerged as a major hub of Indian IT companies with 35 Indian companies already having their offices in the city and many more getting ready to set up their offices.

Betram Roth, Director (India-Greater China), Frankfurt Economic Development GMBH, while talking to CNS said that in the past six months nearly seven Indian IT companies had set up their offices in Frankfurt and two more were in the pipeline.

"Altogether there are around 35 Indian IT companies in Frankfurt alone which include IT majors like TCS, Wipro, Infosys etc. It would be our endeavor to see more and more Indian IT companies to set up their presence not only in Frankfurt but in Germany as a whole."

Roth who along with his colleague Sibylle Herforth, Executive Director, Frankfurt Economic Development Council, is in Bangalore for the Bangalore IT.COM 2002 is looking forward to encourage more and more Indian IT companies to set up their presence in India.

He was participating at a seminar on `Indo-German IT Business Forum' in Bangalore on Tuesday. "Such types of forums help us to interact with more and more representatives from different Indian IT companies thereby helping us to encourage them to set up their presence in Germany particularly in Frankfurt. We provide the Indian IT companies all the assistance to explore possibilities of coming to Germany and look towards Germany as their next IT destination. We also look into any of the problems which the companies might face after they have opened up their offices in Frankfurt," added Roth.

Earlier in the day while addressing the seminar, C Warnecke, Consul, German Consulate - Southern Region, remarked that the Green Card initiative which had been launched by the German government to attract more and more foreign skilled workers in the country had streamlined the entry of foreign professionals into Germany. He said a major chunk of the Indian IT professionals in Germany were from south India.

He also hoped that more and more Indian IT companies and professionals would show interest in setting up their ventures in Germany in large numbers in the near future. The one day seminar aimed at improving Indo-German ties was also addressed by DM Inamdar, Minister For IT and Tourism, Government of Karnataka; BV Naidu, Director, STPI Bangalore; Vivek Kulkarni, IT Secretary, Government of Karnataka; and many others.
