NEW DELHI: Indiamarkets.com, a B2B portal has launched what it calls, e-business centers, aimed at e-enabling the operations of small and medium businesses. These centers will not only provide the necessary physical infrastructure for these businesses, but will also help them identify alliance partners, source suppliers and find new business on the Net. Office automation services such as photocopying, fax, printing, tele-conferencing and video-conferencing would be an integral feature of these centers. Businesses will also be able to hold conferences, seminars, road shows and make presentations to their prospective or existing clients.

Currently, 12 centers are operational in Ahmedabad, Bangalore (2), Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ludhiana, Mumbai (2), NOIDA and Pune. This number will be increased to 140 by the end of the year. Currently, the basic services will be free of cost, but the enhanced services will be charged for.

Vasundhara Raje, Minister of SSI and ARI, inaugurated the e-business centers. Speaking of the small scale sector in the country, she said, "The small scale sector forms a major part of all industries. This sector also creates a substantial number of jobs every year. E-business is an easy way for them to expand their businesses, but there has to be someone to tell them the advantages of e-commerce and the Net. The government can’t do everything, the private sector does need to chip in their bit. Indiamarket.com’s e-business centers will surely help these SMEs in going a long way."
